FSHC convened an Elder Housing Summit in February 2025.  Gracepoint graciously hosted the Summit at the Graham in Tampa. We were joined by several interested stakeholders and had a robust work day that included discussion of data and trends as well as brainstorming on policy solutions and next steps. As a result of this work, a variety of concerned organizations agreed to become part of the Coordinating Committee for the Elder Housing Initiative. 

The group will focus on three initiatives in the coming months:

• Working toward proposing an Elder Housing Stabilization Bill
• Data collection and messaging to make the case for addressing the elder housing crisis and change the perception of the people who are unsheltered
• Connecting the Area Agencies on Aging, the Continuums of Care and the local governments in the 10 communities with the highest number of unsheltered elderly people, working with the Florida Interagency Council on Homelessness.

We are excited to continue these efforts to address the elder housing crisis in Florida.
